Massage has existed for thousands of years offering many health benefits. There is a type of massage for every need. Massage is often considered only after injury or stress to the body, but it can also benefit healthy people. In addition to reducing the effect of stress or injury, or relief from chronic pain, massage therapy can calm the central nervous system, increase circulation, lower the blood pressure, boost immunity and aid an athlete's performance. Massage is a valuable tool for overall wellness.

Much the way we are all interconnected as humans, our body’s systems are all interconnected. While it may seem that our health is about one particular issue, one pain or one part of the body, it is not. That one pain or issue is what is forefront in your mind when you seek help. But recovery from it depends on all the systems in our bodies being able to re-establish communication and flow. Our health is our mind and body and all of the systems working and communicating together.

Massage in the simplest terms, works with the soft tissue. Within our body, the fascia, or soft tissue system, is the protector – surrounding and connected to every cell within. An injury or stress on one area of the fascia, will strain and pull and create pain in other connected areas remote from the actual injury.

Reiki or natural healing may be combined with your massage therapy treatment. Reiki is a natural extension in the work of a massage therapist. The warmth from the hands is energy that promotes healing when combined with the knowledge, training and intent of the person providing the massage therapies for health. It is one more tool towards the goal of overall health.

Healing is a journey that starts during my intake process. I listen and create a treatment plan unique to each client. It may be based on one modality, but more than likely will depend on a blending of two or more types of massage therapies for the greatest result. My approach is gentle. Massage should absolutely NOT hurt. In addition to the various massage techniques, aromatherapy and hot stones can be incorporated into the therapy as well.
Each client is unique and my treatment plan for each is uniquely tailored for them.
